1One tap before each series
An easy-to-read list, large touch targets, one tap before each series of portraits.
Before the shoot, you import the student list and choose the Timestamp identification method. On site, you open the tool on your phone or tablet: “Sync”, then “Start”. Tap a name, photograph the student, tap the next name. A retake? Tap the name again before you start over.
The green check confirms the tap is recorded — nothing more. It is after you upload your JPEGs that the platform matches each series to the tap that came before it. The session’s Uploads tab then shows the series grouped by student: you accept the calibration, review, correct where needed, then finalize.
A slip of the finger? “Undo” shows for five seconds after the latest tap; it only works as long as that tap has not synced. Otherwise, tap the right name before you take the photo and, if needed, correct it at review.
Where to find it: The session → Tagging → “Timestamp (mobile tool)”; on shoot day: Timestamp
2No QR cards to print or hand out
With Timestamp, the student holds nothing and you have no card to photograph before each portrait.
Nothing to print
No cards to print, sort by class or hand to students for this session.
Nothing to photograph before each student
You tap the name, you take the photo. The first image of each series is already a portrait.
One QR code on the screen, at the start
At the start, photograph the QR code shown on your phone: one or two sharp photos. It measures the offset between the camera’s clock and the phone’s. Repeat it after changing cameras or a break of more than thirty minutes; you accept the measurement after upload.
QR cards remain available: they are another identification method, which you choose session by session.
3One more student? Add them on the spot.
A new enrolment, a student missing from the list: first name, last name, group — then you take the photo.
“Add student” opens a short form: the first name, the last name and one of the session’s groups, or none. “Add and tap” creates the student on the device and records their first tap right away: they appear in the list, you take the photo. If the list was synced before the shoot (it stays valid for seven days), adding also works without a signal; the data is sent when the connection returns. No blank cards to bring, no leftover cards at the end of the day.
4The gym has no signal. It keeps going.
Open the tool and sync the list before you go in. After that, every tap is stored on the device.
Without a connection, the tool says so in plain words — “Device offline” — and keeps recording your taps on the phone. When the connection returns, sending resumes on its own. Three habits to adopt: keep the page open (it cannot be reloaded offline), check that the “pending” notice is gone and, before a long stretch without a signal, export a backup copy from the tool. Taps that have not been sent yet exist only on that device: do not clear the browser’s data, and do not use a private window.
5The class photo too
Tap a group, photograph the class. Then tap the next student’s name to return to portraits.
At the bottom of the list, the “Group photos” section lists the session’s groups. After a tap on a group, the photos that follow become its group photos — until your next tap. Identification does not decide what parents see: showing group photos in galleries remains a session option, with its attestation.
6Your taps, in a spreadsheet
Which name was tapped, at what time, in what order: synced taps export as CSV.
On the session’s Tagging page, the “Timestamp sessions” card lists each account-and-device pair, its number of taps and its time span. The studio’s owners, admins and managers download all of them at once, or one account’s taps on one device; the file opens in your spreadsheet. Every export is recorded in your studio’s audit log.
Where to find it: The session → Tagging → Timestamp sessions
7Several stations, one session
One phone or tablet per camera: each station keeps its own stream of taps.
One device per station
Each photographer taps names on their own phone or tablet, beside their own camera.
One calibration per station
Each station photographs the QR code shown on its own screen: each camera body’s offset is measured separately.
One check after upload
You check the links between camera bodies and tap streams, confirm the offsets, and the assignment runs again. Without a reliable link, a body’s photos generally stay to be assigned rather than being guessed.
Two bodies of the same model? Give them distinct file prefixes and run a trial before the shoot.
8No accessory to buy
Your phone or tablet, your camera: nothing else to buy.
In the browser
The tool opens in your phone’s or tablet’s browser; you can add it to the home screen. Nothing to plug into the camera.
Your JPEGs, with their time
Matching relies on the capture time written in your JPEGs. You can shoot RAW + JPEG; upload the JPEGs only, without stripping their metadata.
Included in every KebecPhoto plan
Timestamp comes at no additional charge for this feature, the Starter plan included. Your plan’s usual fees apply.
Without facial recognition
Timestamp identifies students from your taps and the photos’ time, not from children’s faces.
9Six questions to ask your platform
Ask your current provider and check off its answers. Here are ours, conditions included.
| The question | KebecPhoto | Your current platform |
|---|---|---|
| Can you identify students without printing and handing out one card per student? | Yes, with Timestamp. QR cards remain available as another method. | |
| Are the phone and the camera enough, with no dedicated accessory? | Yes: your phone or tablet, and your camera. | |
| Is mobile identification included, with no charge of its own? | Yes: in every KebecPhoto plan; the plan’s usual fees apply. | |
| Does mobile identification work without facial recognition of children? | Yes: Timestamp relies on your taps and the photos’ time. | |
| Can you add a student on site, even without a signal? | Yes, if the list was synced before the shoot. | |
| Can you export the taps to check them? | Yes: synced taps, as CSV, for owners, admins and managers. | |
| Current limits | RAW and HEIC files are not accepted at upload; for Timestamp, upload your JPEGs. Attaching a second tablet to the same camera during a shoot is not offered. | |
10Answers before you start
Is there an app to install?
No. The tool opens in your phone’s or tablet’s browser; you can add it to your home screen. Open it and sync the list while you have a signal.
What happens if I forget to tap a name?
The portraits can end up under the previous student’s name. That is what the review is for: look at the neighbouring series and correct the assignment before you finalize.
How long between the tap and the photos? How many poses?
Tap just before the series, ideally within the five seconds before it; the number of poses is up to you — the three photos in our illustrations are only an example. After an interruption, tap the name again before you resume.
How do I get a good photo of the calibration QR code?
Take one or two sharp photos, with the screen bright. If a photo of the code shows up among the portraits, exclude it at review, before you finalize.
Do JPEGs exported from an editing program keep the right time?
Only if the export keeps the capture time in the metadata. Check a small batch before you process the whole session.
My phone dies in the middle of a shoot. What now?
Recharge it, then reopen the tool where you have a signal: the page does not open offline. Resume on the same device, without clearing the browser’s data or switching to a private window. Before a long stretch without a signal, export a backup copy from the tool.
Do parents see the photos as soon as I tap?
No. A tap publishes nothing. Photos go through upload, your review and finalization; access then depends on whether your store is open.
Can you correct things after finalizing?
Preferably correct before. The “Attribution repair” tab allows some corrections afterwards; photos already used in an order may need our support team’s help.
Can I keep using QR cards?
Yes. The method is chosen session by session: Timestamp for one, QR cards for another.
